Hydrafacial MD

What is the HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is a medical-grade device offering 6 facials in one 1 hour treatment.

It uses advanced, patented vortex technology to deeply cleanse the skin and effectively deliver botanical ingredients containing nutrients such as hyaluronic acid, horse chestnut seed extract, red algae extract, copper, zinc and magnesium peptides to where they do the most good. In addition, HydraFacial also delivers powerful antioxidants to counteract damage by free radicals – from pollution, sun and stress – which can degrade the skin and accelerate the ageing process.

HydraFacial is so much more than just another facial. It’s an experience. A pleasure. A feeling. And a confidence booster. It focuses on the unique philosophy of ‘Skin Health for Life’. But, it’s also about much more than just great looking, healthy skin. When our skin looks good and feels good, we feel good too. That’s the difference you get with a HydraFacial.

So, for long-term healthy skin and a glowing complexion why settle for an ordinary facial, when you can choose a HydraFacial?

What treatments does HydraFacial offer?

HydraFacial can be used for overall skin rejuvenation. It can also be used to address specific skin issues such as acne, ageing and pigmentation. The extraction phase is fantastic for removal of blackheads and improving pore size. This treatment is most commonly used on the face, but can be tailored for use on the neck, décolleté and more.

What is the Six Step Process?

  1. Detox (lymphatic drainage)
  2. Deep cleanse and exfoliation
  3. Acid peel
  4. Extraction
  5. Hydrate and protect
  6. Rejuvenation (LED light therapy)

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the desired outcome of your treatment, your skinprofessional will discuss the number of treatments and interval intervals you may like to have. With our ‘Skin Health for Life’ protocol we aim for general skin rejuvenation and this can be repeated every 4-6 weeks for as many treatments as you desire. For our more in-depth Acne, Pigmentation and Anti-Ageing protocols we recommend treatments every 1-2 weeks for a minimum of 6 for best outcome.

Who is not suitable for this treatment?

  • Roaccutane treatment within the last 6 months
  • Active skin inflammation (eg papulopustular rosacea, severe active acne)
  • Active skin infection (eg herpes simplex/coldsores)
  • Certain medications (our Doctors can discuss this with you)
  • Some previous cancers
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Allergy to shellfish (one product contains glucosamine)
  • Allergy to aspirin (salicylic acid present)

What are the risks and potential side effects?

Your skin will immediately have a visible glow. It is normal for your skin to be pink after treatment. This settles usually within 20 minutes.

Aftercare

Avoiding sun and wearing adequate sunscreen is always important for skin health, but even mores in the week following your HydraFacial treatment. It is important to avoid makeup until the day after your treatment if possible for best benefit. Skincare products that contain acids eg glycolic/lactic/salicylic/tretinoin etc should be stopped for 48 hours before, and avoided for 48 hours after treatment (we can advise you if you are unsure what your home products contain).  Please ask our medical staff if you are planning another treatment eg dermal filler, laser etc and we will guide you with regard to the best timing.
